Welcome to LRFDT
Dear Friends and Partners in Development, it is my pleasure to welcome you to the official website of Lugazi Rural Finance Development Trust (LRFDT). As coordinator of this dynamic organisation, I am honoured to share our journey of empowering communities through sustainable development initiatives.
At LRFDT, we believe that true transformation begins at the grassroots. Our work focuses on strengthening livelihoods, promoting financial literacy, and integrating traditional medicine into modern healthcare — through innovations such as our “3 in 1” Herbal Wound Spray, bridging Uganda's rich heritage with science to deliver affordable health solutions while creating income opportunities for farmers.
Together, Transparency, Accountability, Teamwork, Voluntarism, and Partnership form a holistic set of values that guide LRFDT. They ensure that the organisation is not only effective in delivering services but also ethical, inclusive, and sustainable in its approach.
Together with our partners, farmers, and community-based organisations, we are committed to building healthier, stronger, and more resilient communities. I invite you to explore our initiatives, join hands with us, and be part of this transformative journey.

Our Focus Areas
LRFDT's work is grounded in four interconnected pillars that address the most pressing challenges facing Uganda's rural communities.

Sustainable Agriculture
We promote climate-smart, sustainable farming practices that improve food security, boost household incomes, and protect the natural environment for future generations.

Environmental Protection
Through tree planting, wetland conservation, and environmental education, we help communities steward the ecosystems they depend on for their livelihoods.

Education
Quality education transforms lives. We support school retention, adult literacy, and skills training so every community member can realise their full potential.

Why We Exist
Founded on the belief that every community holds the seeds of its own transformation, LRFDT exists to nurture those seeds — with the right knowledge, resources, and networks — until thriving, self-reliant communities emerge.
To Alleviate Poverty
We equip rural households with the tools, knowledge, and resources needed to break the cycle of poverty and achieve lasting economic independence.
To Promote Health and Well-Being
Healthy communities are productive communities. We champion access to clean water, sanitation, nutrition, and primary healthcare for all.
To Expand Educational Access
We believe education is the single greatest equaliser. Our programmes ensure no child or adult is left behind due to cost or distance.
To Protect The Environment
Sustainable development and environmental stewardship go hand in hand. We integrate conservation into every programme we run.
How We Work
Our programmes are designed to create change at every level — from the individual to the whole community — ensuring no one is left behind.
01Community Empowerment
At the community level, LRFDT facilitates collective action through community dialogues, awareness campaigns, and resource centres. A flagship of this work is our traditional-medicine initiative: community members and farmers cultivate medicinal plants that feed into our “3 in 1” Herbal Wound Spray, turning indigenous knowledge into affordable healthcare and new income opportunities.
- Cultivation of traditional medicinal plants
- Community resource centre establishment
- Environmental awareness campaigns
- Village savings and loan associations
Together, we can transform rural communities
Whether you volunteer your time, partner with us, or simply spread the word — every action helps build a more self-reliant Uganda.
