Empowering Farmers through Savings and Credit

At LRFDT, we believe that strong communities are built on financial literacy and empowerment. That's why we train farmers in financial management through savings and credit programmes. These programmes not only teach practical skills but also nurture a culture of discipline, accountability, and long-term planning among rural groups.

From training to transformation. Our journey with farmer groups begins with hands-on training in savings and credit management. Farmers learn how to pool resources, manage group finances, and make informed decisions that strengthen their livelihoods.

Record Keeping

Strengthening Group Record Keeping

Accurate record keeping is the heartbeat of every successful savings and credit group. We emphasise clear, consistent, and transparent documentation in all group operations.

Building Accountability and Trust

Each group maintains detailed records of savings, loans, repayments, and membership contributions. These records help members track progress, resolve disputes, and make informed decisions.

Training for Practical Skills

Our trainers guide groups on how to use ledgers, passbooks, and digital tools to record transactions — so every member understands how funds are managed and how their savings contribute to the group's growth.

Empowered Through Knowledge

When farmers master record keeping, they gain control over their finances and strengthen the foundation for long-term sustainability.

Proper documentation builds confidence among members and external partners, including banks and local authorities. It also prepares groups for audits, grant opportunities, and future expansion.

Sound financial records ensure accountability and proper use of funds. That confidence creates opportunities for groups to earn recognition items — such as group uniforms — without the stress of individual financial contributions.

Recognition & Inclusion

Legal Recognition, Financial Safety & Growth

Legal Recognition and Group Identity

We go beyond training by supporting groups to legally register at sub-county and district levels. This recognition gives them credibility, access to opportunities, and the ability to operate as formal entities.

Opening Doors to Financial Inclusion

We support groups to open and operate savings bank accounts — connecting them to the formal financial system, safeguarding their savings, and enabling access to credit facilities that fuel growth.

Impact You Can See

Farmers are not only improving household incomes but building stronger, more resilient communities. Each registered group with a functioning savings account is a testament to empowerment, self-reliance, and hope.

Community Integral Development

The CID Project

The Community Integral Development (CID) project is a voluntary initiative designed by LRFDT to strengthen social and economic development at the grassroots level. Though unfunded, CID thrives on the spirit of collaboration — where the organisation and the community share responsibilities to create lasting impact.

Much of this financial management work sits within CID — a partnership where LRFDT provides technical guidance, training, and coordination, while community members contribute time, ideas, and local resources.

Social Development

Promoting education, health, and community cohesion.

Economic Development

Encouraging savings, entrepreneurship, and local production.

Environmental Stewardship

Supporting clean, sustainable practices that protect our surroundings.
